On the inDesign workshop we had to create a little lyrical booklet containing keywords from a Poem we were recommended or a poem we found ourselves, from the start my enthusiasm to use indesign was just no where I think its because I thought that indesign was almost pointless, because you can do the exact same thing on photoshop and illustrator. But i was proved wrong throughout the day, I learnt that indesign is what industry professionals use to create and publish books or any media that is similar. It worked more or less like illustrator, the tools were almost identical but indesign had this more complex feel about it in my opinion.

My Poem "Split" was going to be strictly just a poem but i wanted to make it more visual textually so i searched for synonyms for the word split. I found words such as "Apart" , "Broken" and "Divided". So my plan towards making them more visual was to use some wordplay so i'd take the primary definition of the word and move the letters around and rearrange them representing the context of the word like so on the right. The second half "Ken" is supposed to represent the sight of something being broken.

By the end of it all I was able to come out with an outcome i was proud of. However I blame myself for not reading the brief properly and didn't get the memo that we had to use lyrics/ word from our chosen poem. ALSO I could've made things easier and i believe i could've been more creative anif i had used a poem i knew, or better a rap song...raps are poems...with a beat so its the same thing in my opinion. Other than that i'd say this workshop was a success, maybe in my own time i can create something better for my portfolio.
