Change is good!

So I have finally received all the replies from the people I took pictures of to include in my zine, I printed them off and stuck them down in my book. Although they all took forever to reply to me, what they sent me was just amazing. I was not expecting these replies to be that deep, I think some people took it really seriously. I guess this is what I wanted so this is great.

There has been a lot of change in ideas and ideas for my outcome. Lets start off with the logo, although I made concepts creating the front cover with the previous logo just using the "Lot" font, looking back on it maybe it was slightly too simple and it just wasn't sitting right. Especially at the fact that the font is too chunky and full. So I wanted to change it up. I came across this Bēhance account of a Graphic designer called Ray Dak Lam. He has a photography based zine about Hong Kong. And what got my attention was the logo on the front page. It was just two words in a box "Hong kong" but it still stood out. So tried to work from what he done and sketched to a couple ideas
 in my book.

Looking at this logo it helped me to develop my ideas further and step out on comfort zone to experiment more. I began using different shapes that came to mind from triangles to diamonds to circles. I even asked my sisters what they preferred, the simple text with the "LOT" font or the new ideas i came up with, they both said i should make it in photoshop and then they will decide. So that is what i did, I opened up illustrator and came up with this. I asked my sisters for their opinions because one, they were around and had nothing to do, two, I would be able to receive quick feedback and three, they are all around the sam age group as me 16, 18 and 21 and are people who my zine is targeted at.
This logo looked so much better according to my sisters. They said that its is because the logo becomes more legible and the the text underneath makes it all clear. Also because I may have more time to create an outcome they suggested that i should use it as a stamp on my video and that it will make that much more professional looking.

Since I was working on the logo I felt like I had to change the cover of the zine to compliment the logo as well. Previously while designing the front cover and making sketches I had an idea to have the people that will feature in the zine to be on the front cover of the zine. And well things worked out for the best.
