Planning out

So I have finally started to piece together what I want my zine to look like... Easier said than done. Looking on pinterest can start of so fun and easy to look for inspiration but when you begin to get lost at all the projects people have done you begin to get overwhelmed  because there are so many examples to choose from. So this is where I just had to start sketching random ideas. I knew what i was doing i had a reason for this, knowing me if i see something i like i would try to copy it which i've come to realise that had to stop. So if i didn't have that much examples to look at I would be able to create something more original. And that is what i did. I started off with the front cover. Again i underestimated the process of creating a front cover its always one idea after another so you just keep on adding designs, adjustments and improvements to some of the ideas i made.

I also began to look at the double page spread layouts, these were just that bit more easier to do than the front cover because I knew what i wanted it was just a case of laying it out and arranging it. Whenever i pick up a magazine I was always put of by either the colour choice that the editor used or the amount of word there are on the page. If i just see a block of writing and an image on the other side... that's just basic and I wanted to challenge those conventions. I was going for a minimal look because its not to heavy on the eyes. I also considered the use of negative space to give the image and text some space for focus and reduce the amount of eye movement as much as possible. Looking on pinterest and bechance helped a lot.
