For the second part of the day we were given a USB which out tutor had loaded with features that we were supposed to use. It included a ball, a flat map of the world, a flat spread of clouds. Again we had to use what we learnt from the first lesson about keying and use it to create the next video. To be honest it all seemed a bit complicated, like before i started I did not have the slightest idea on how to make the map of the world cover the ball template. We learnt how to marge all of them together to make a recreation of planet earth. Now back to keying this was when we wanted to make the world to rotate. It was exactly the same concept as is it was in after effects. From this I learnt the basics of keying on how to make subjects, move and appear and disappear. We then did the same process but with the moon orbiting the earth. We even added an effect called stardust, merging it with the keys we were able to make our clip look like it is orbiting in space, moving through the stars.
After effects
In our first workshop we were introduced to after effects. It was an interesting workshop because i realised how the simple tools could make something look so complex and food at the same time. For our first task we had to make a title sequence of our names in photoshop. First of all I had no idea that you could create films or make things move on the software. I thought it was simply for drawings and illustrations. It was here where I learnt about keying. To begin with i was so confused because all of this was new to me in photoshop but after a few simple steps I was able to make this video below... I reminds me of the adverts that apple made when they would advertise their iPod with silhouettes and the iPod with the earphones in white. It was such a simple idea but it sold to its customers.
