Prototyping

In this workshop we were given a task to create a final piece using either laser cutting or using a printer. the task was to base our outcome from a poem. I wanted to create my own poem because it felt good to give myself a lot more credit also it gave me the freedom to make my piece on anything I wanted because it is my poem. I made my poem based on the iPhone and how everyone owns one and how the iPhone also owns us, my poem was made to make people aware and more cautious of what they put on their phones, what they post on social media and what they choose to send to other people. It goes a little something like this.
"i Am the iPhone
i Read your messages
i Know your location
i Influence your interests
i Am superior
i Speak to your friends
i Change your face
i Know your fingerprint
i Can speak in many languages
i Hear your calls
i Know what you did last summer i Record your internet history
i Am you
i Own you
-Siri xx"

I think my poem was a good way to communicate with the reader because these things are true and i believe it will make someone think twice about what they allow their iPhone to know. To stick with the tasks requirements to use one of the machines I created an illustration file of the housing of an iPhone and place the poem in the screen to make it seem as if Siri really is telling it's user what it knows and what it an do. I did not have time to create something to put into the laser cutter so i just used the printer which printed on almost anything. It was quite annoying on my first attempt because my cardboard was not flat enough so the printing came out very blurry and hard to read. For my second attempt I found a much harder piece of card which was harder to bend so the printer will easily print it out. And this is what it looked like.
