The Colour Zine

Zines are self published booklets about any subject that interests you. Zines are low-fi DIY, handmade magazines. Zines have a strong heritage in music, punk and alternative subcultures. They are a great way of easy, and quick spreading information, ideas, work and sharing content. topics covered in zines can include anything, like politics, art and design, social theory.

My chosen zine covered the issue of colour blindness. I wanted my zine to be unique in a sense of interaction. on every page spread i made a ishahara test which tests your eyes  vision on detecting other colour in a circle if colours. There is sometimes a hidden message but majority of the time there is a number that is merged in it.

It took me a while to plan it all out and to even make my ishahara tests. I didn't jump straight to it because i didn't want to make it look rushed and tacky so i made little pencil mock ups... me being colour blind too didn't make things easier. I think the process in the way i created my zine was very critical and it forced me to think about what i want clearly because i usually just jump strsight to my final piece without planning. So i think that not using my laptop straight away was very good because i know exacly what i wanted, I planned it all out so if i was to explain and present my work it would be very clear and informative.

On every spread i also included a little fact on colour blindness to keep the reader interested. as well a as this i also made each page a different colour just so its more visual and to fit ther purpose of my zine.
